What is a Copper Water Bottle?
A copper water bottle is a reusable drinking vessel handcrafted from copper and traditionally used in Ayurveda for storing plain drinking water. The classic Tamra Jal routine is to keep room-temperature water in a clean copper vessel for 6 to 8 hours, then rinse and refill it fresh each day.
Copper has a long place in Indian water-storage traditions and develops a natural patina with use. Copper Healer bottles are made from pure copper, with an unlined interior and no lacquer or chemical polish.
The Tamra Jal Tradition
What Tamra Jal means
Tamra jal means copper water in Sanskrit. Keeping drinking water in a copper pot or jug is an old Indian household habit and part of Ayurvedic tradition.
How it is used
Fill the copper bottle or pitcher with plain room-temperature water at night and drink it in the morning. Rinse it before the next fill.
How our pieces are made
Our bottles, pitchers and glasses are pure copper, unlined, with no lacquer. The hammered ones are shaped by hand, so no two patterns match exactly.
